“I am pleased to endorse JD Spain, Sr. for Arlington County Board and urge voters to make JD their #1 Choice.

JD is a committed, longtime local and national public servant who understands what Arlington needs to thrive, today and in the long term:

- A diverse mix of businesses that provide stable incomes for families
- Social services that keep us safe and provide effective prevention and treatment so that every member of our community can fully contribute to our collective future; and
- Climate resilience and environmental stewardship, so that we can continue to enjoy the place we all love and ensure our children will, too.

All of these intersect with another of JD’s priorities, and my main priority—public education. The work of schools depends upon children and families having their basic needs met, so kids are ready to learn. They learn when we’re taking care of their physical and mental health. They learn when schools are appropriately funded to recruit and retain top-quality teachers with competitive pay and benefits. They learn when they see vibrant opportunities available to them after graduation. All of these things depend upon close collaboration between the School Board and the County Board. JD knows that the wellbeing of our youngest citizens isn’t the responsibility of one system or group—it’s our shared work and privilege.”
